News: Shackleton Memorial Lecture
Over the last few years the school has hosted lectures from the likes of Senator David Norris, Brian Keenan, Kevin Myers and last year the disability campaigner and young global leader Caroline Casey. This October Fintan O'Toole, the columnist, author and deputy editor of the Irish Times will deliver the Shackleton Memorial Lecture on Friday the 22nd October.
The lectures confimed for the weekend are

"Lieutenant Nobu Shirase and the Japanese Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1912" by Chet Ross
"'Uncovering the story of Scott's Other Expedition' " by Meredith Hooper
"The SS Terra Nova (1884-1943) and other Polar Exploration Ships of the Heroic Age" by Mike Tarver
" Life inside drifting Antarctic pack ice" by Professor David Thomas
" Last Days of the Arctic" by Ragnar Axelsson
