News: 'Where a Single Footprint Lasts a Thousand Years'

This October the school will premiere, in Shackleton country, a performance of music, theatre, poetry and readings relating to Ernest Shackleton and exploration. In association with the Shackleton School, Michael Holohan has devised a unique event, featuring his own signature composition of music-theatre, complemented by poetry and readings.

The piece has it's genesis in an event commissioned and hosted by the National Concert Hall, Dublin on the 14th December 2009 to commemorate the centenary of Shackleton's 'Nearest the South Pole' lecture in Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin.

Composed by Micheal Holohan, performed by Donal O'Kelly, Simon O'Dwyer and Michael Holohan with Poetry by Peter Sirr (in association with Poetry Ireland) and readings by Neale Webb.

The performance will be held inthe Athy Community Arts Centre, Woodstock Street, Athy on Sunday the 24th October 2010.
